When does Tioga Road open?
Typically open late May to early June (but has ranged from mid-May to late July) to November, with the first big storm. Plowing usually begins in April; the opening date depends entirely on snowpack and can swing several weeks.
The stretch from Crane Flat to the Tioga Pass entrance closes for winter. The road to Crane Flat and the Big Oak Flat Road stay open year-round with chains.
