Built for confidence
We pull every alert and operating-hours record from the National Park Service Data API.
We read the text of each alert — not just its label — because closures are often mis-filed.
We translate it into one status — open, partially closed, or closed — with the reason.
Monitoring transparency
Alerts
Get a browser or email alert when a park or waterway changes status. Choose the parks you follow, an area near you, or everywhere — plus optional wildfire, hurricane & flood alerts.
You won't be alerted for routine "closed today per scheduled hours" closures. Turn alerts off any time from the same panel.
Every status here is derived from the National Park Service's own alerts and operating-hours data. A park reads open when no active closures or hazards are reported, partially closed when part of it — a trail, road, or area — is closed or under a hazard, and closed when the whole site is closed or outside its scheduled hours. Most parks sit in the middle: a closed trail rarely means a closed park, so check the reason and the official page before you drive out. More in our guides.
