When does Moose-Wilson Road open?

Typically open mid-May, once spring snowmelt is complete to November 1. Plowing usually begins in April; the opening date depends entirely on snowpack and can swing several weeks.

Closed from November 1 until the spring snowmelt clears, usually mid-May. The unpaved stretch from Death Canyon Road to Granite Canyon Trailhead stays unplowed for ski and snowshoe use. Short-notice closures also happen in late summer and fall when bears are feeding on berries beside the road.

Year-by-year opening dates are being verified — for now, use the official status link above.
