When does State Route 67 (North Rim Parkway) open?

Typically open May 15 to early December (Arizona DOT stops plowing at the end of November). Plowing usually begins in April; the opening date depends entirely on snowpack and can swing several weeks.

The Arizona DOT stops plowing SR-67 after November and gates it in early December (December 5 in 2021, December 1 in 2022, December 4 in 2023, December 2 in 2024); it reopens in mid-May, traditionally May 15, together with North Rim services. After the July 2025 Dragon Bravo Fire destroyed the Grand Canyon Lodge and North Rim Visitor Center, the North Rim closed for the rest of the 2025 season and reopened May 15, 2026 for day use only — no lodging and no potable water. SR-67, Cape Royal Road and Point Imperial Road are open.

Year-by-year opening dates are being verified — for now, use the official status link above.
